Science, Knowledge & Civilization • Lesson 8.14
Curriculum Breakdown
Faith and Science
In the Islamic worldview, the "Word of God" (Quran) and the "Work of God" (Science) cannot contradict each other.
Complementary Truths
Muslim scientists believe that studying nature is a form of worship, as it reveals the wisdom of the Creator. No scientific discovery can "threaten" faith; it only adds to our awe.
The Quranic Call
Over 750 verses in the Quran urge humans to use their intellect (Aql), reflect (Tafakkur), and observe (Ib-sar) the natural world. Science is the fulfillment of these commands.
"It is impossible not to admit the existence of scientific data in the Quran which were quite inconceivable at the time they were revealed."
Maurice Bucaille
Modern Applications
Rejecting the false "Science vs. Religion" divide.
Using scientific discovery to deepen our spiritual connection.
Answering modern questions using both ethical and scientific insight.
Critical Reflection
Does learning more about science make me feel closer to or further from Allah?
Why did the "conflict" between science and religion start in other cultures but not in Islam?
How can I be a "thinking" believer?
