Curriculum Breakdown

Modern Consumerism and Contentment (Qana'ah)

We live in a culture that constantly encourages more consumption and material accumulation. Islam teaches Qana'ah (contentment) and warns against greed.

Foundations

The mutual rivalry for piling up (of worldly things) diverts you, until you visit the graves. (Quran 102:1-2). Contentment (Qana'ah): Being satisfied with what Allah has provided, while still striving for improvement in a ethical way.

Avoiding Extravagance

Avoiding Extravagance: Spend moderately and avoid wasting resources on unnecessary luxuries. Wealth as a Test: Understand that wealth and possessions are a trial and an opportunity for charity and service.

"Richness is not having many possessions, but richness is being content with oneself."

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)
