Caring for the Vulnerable: Orphans, Widows, and the Elderly

The Quran repeatedly emphasizes the care of orphans, widows, and the elderly as a test of faith.

Foundations

So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him]. (Quran 93:9-10). Caring for orphans includes protecting their property and providing emotional support.

Honoring the elderly is a sign of a compassionate society. Providing a network of support for widows and the bereaved is a community responsibility.

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)
